Special Projects

Addressing the Community, Business and Organizational

Social Responsibility Angle

For Organizations interested in various issues impacting the communities they serve, we provide evidence-based resources to facilitate Special Projects in different settings. Below are a few options to promote community-building among diverse groups:

Mental Health Matters for Violence Prevention: Presentation and experiential activities using Behavioral Health resources to inform positive communication approaches and conflict resolution based on mental health/wellness principles that help reduce and prevent violence in different situations.

Civil Rights Trinity Project (Interactive discussions for community/student and other participants). Program focuses on consciousness-raising and psychosocial aspects of the Civil Rights Era (cultural pain, internalized racism and group dynamics; social justice and conflict resolution matters) and lessons from the lives of three prominent individuals from the Era -- Emmett Till, Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Parents as Partners to Reduce Suspensions (School-based Parental Partners): This project for middle schools involves training teams of  parents to support teacher/classroom needs through effective (timely and compassionate) in-school interventions in order to avoid and reduce unnecessary student suspensions. Applicable for handling routine child/youth behavioral issues such as distractions and disruptions (not cases involving violence or other major and serious rule violations).
